For unforgetable holidays in the heart of the Loire Valley
Welcome to the Cœur Val de Loire to spend fantastic holidays in the Loire Valley! Whether you’re here for just a few hours or several days, set off to explore and enjoy the many treasures of this special little corner of France, the cradle of our history, and probably a substantial part of yours as well, as so many of Europe’s kings and other powerful figures have come this way over the past centuries.
To the north, you’ll find the gentle, rolling hills of the Perche, the famous 16th century French poet Ronsard’s beloved land, the unmissable Templar Commanderie of Arville and the wide open stretches of the Loire Valley. Enjoy a fun-filled family holiday at Vendôme, awarded France’s coveted label ‘City of Art and History’. And the surrounding areas are sure to delight architecture and gardening enthusiasts alike. Here you will discover the troglodyte village of Trôo and its caves, the garden of Plessis Sasnières, or the ruins of the château of Lavardin, one of the most beautiful villages of France.
As you head down towards the Loire River, you’ll reach Blois|Chambord, which will open up the pages of a vast book on French history. It’s here in the Loire Valley that the kings built their world- famous châteaux. It’s a great place to explore the royal city of Blois and so many others, hiking or cycling with family or friends, and to enjoy a truly memorable holiday. You’ll be enchanted by our most magnificent châteaux: Blois and its magnificent Sound & Lights show, Chambord, Chaumont-sur-Loire and its famous Garden Festival, Cheverny, as well as by hundreds of other small hidden treasures.
You will also taste our ‘AOC’ (certified appellation) wines in the House of Wines of Cheverny or directly when meeting the wine makers and visiting the vineyards. And among all our delicious local produce, don’t forget to delight the whole family with a hot chocolate at Max Vauché’s Choco bar!
In the Sologne region, a land of mystery and legends, it’s nature that reigns supreme. Follow a guide to indulge in your passion for birdwatching or to hike through the forests that cover most of the area, and you too will learn to appreciate some of our oldest and most venerable traditions, as the fish farming. Around the typical city of Romorantin, you will appreciate the large panel of activities you can enjoy in family or between friends: the cycling routes of the ‘Sologne à vélo’, a day at Center Parcs Sologne, the Matra Museum and so many other sites not to be missed.
And, as you head farther south to the Cher Valley, don’t forget that absolute must: a visit to one of the most beautiful zoos in the world! And a few kilometers by the Cher river, you will be surprised par the 3D experience at the château of Selles-sur-Cher. The château du Moulin or the subterranean city of Bourré will be nice places to visit before a tasty pause at the Atelier St Michel or in the Monmousseau wine cellars.
